Description

Explore your world on two wheels with Giant's Defy 5. Giant's ALUXX aluminum frame lets the Defy zoom up the climbs while muting road vibration for a super-smooth, refined ride. Beyond just light and smooth, you'll love the tall head tube and stable geometry that allows for a more comfortable, back-friendly position so you feel great through every mile. This Defy boasts Giant's lightweight SR-2 rims, 16-speed Shimano components for crisp shifting, Tektro brakes for confident stopping, and a selection of reliable Giant components.

Great Bike and Fun to Ride

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
I've had this bike for two weeks and put over 150 miles on it already (about 10 a day). The XL is comfortable for a 6'2 male. It rides well without too much vibrations. I like the gearing and the shifters/brakes are easy to reach from the hooks. It's stable at all the speeds I can reach (and I topped out at about 27 with a tail wind one day). For the recreational/exercise rider, this is a great bike. It's not the lightest, not the fastest, and not the slickest looking, but I've gotten a few complements. This is an excellent bike! I recommend it for the beginning cyclist or someone looking for a solid exercise bike.

Perfect Entry Level Roadie

Pros:
Cons:
Best Uses:
I bought this bike at Montgomery Cyclery in Anderson a few months ago after doing extensive research on entry-level road bikes for quite some time before finally purchasing. I could not be happier with my purchase. Exceptional value for the $, super smooth, lightweight, easy shifting, very comfortable, fast and fun. Definitely recommend!

Aggressive and Competitive

Pros:
Speedy, Aggressive, Agile, Sleek
Cons:
Best Uses:
Road Endurance
It is a finely tuned machine without breaking the bank. I have put over 250 miles on it in just under a month. She is smooth and agile. I rode it stock for about 100 miles before I installed the 105 5800 shifters, FD, RD and cassette (I did the "remove the 16 trick")! Very simple and inexpensive upgrade. She was speedy before and remains so now.

Nice road bike for the money. I've bought 3 other bikes from Giant (Mountian bikes) This is the only road bike I've had since my Peugiot U08. I've got 150 miles on it so far, and It's all been fun.

Excellent entry-level road bike

Pros:
Durable, Versatile
Cons:
Best Uses:
Road Biking
I am using this bike for road cycling and triathlon training and racing. It hasn't failed me yet, it is very comfortable and agile. I wouldn't call it lightweight, but it certainly isn't heavy either. Overall, a great entry-level bike. I have upgraded the seat, added clip-on aero bars, and may eventually upgrade the shifters.
