Giant Seek 3

I originally purchased this bike to be my college commuter bike, but it has turned into so much more! This bike begs to be riden, I've logged over 200 miles in the 6 weeks I've owned it. On pavement with the road tires it is a dream, max speed so far has been 32mph. The bike corners with confidence and stops with ridiculous power. Light trails are handled well on this bike. For these I suggest getting a multipurpose tire rated at a lower pressure than the 100psi roads. I even took the bike on an intermediate MOUNTAIN BIKE trail and it handled that. With the right tires it is like a hardtrail bike w/out front suspension. The frame is so sturdy and the brakes have so much power that traversing logs and easing down steep inclines was possible.Actual performance: rear dérailleur shifts fast and smoothfront dérailleur is fast but could be smootherframe is extremely sturdyseat is comfortablerims are strong and lighttires are great on road but thats itblack color is slick but shows scratches easily brakes are strong and reliableready to be tricked out with accessoriesOverall for around $600 this is a great bike. I compared it to the Trek 7.2 and the Specialized Crosstrail Sport, all with similar price and components. The Crosstrail had suspension, could handle most on and off-road situations, but it was over 30 lbs. The Trek was super fast, light, but was extremely rigid, cant go off-road. The Seek 3 was right in the middle of these hybrid bikes. It doesn't only do one or two things perfect,it does many things quite well and to me, that's value.

I had this on lay-a-way for month and just got it today... Went right out the door of the bike shop into a 24 mile ride! FANTASTIC! Feels like the Porsche of bikes!... Looks great & feels great. The gears shift buttery smooth and thanx to the Hayes MX-4 mechanical disc brakes it stops on command without a hint of hesitation. It's a real racer mixed with a bit of a trail bike feel. On a smooth serface it floats. However, a bumpy road equals a stiff ride. No suspension what so ever. But Hey, that's alright... IT'S NOT A MOUNTAIN BIKE. It just looks like it's road-mom's been messin' with the mountain bikin' mailman. One last thing, it's not a 16 pound speedster but it's not a 40 pound cruiser either... another $1400 or so may get the weight down a few pounds but c'mon, we who purchase this beauty know what it's worth... Without a doubt, I made a great purchase and look forward to tomorrow... Gonna' head down the coast and grab a cappucino in Seal Beach. Then...(?) SEEK and you shall ride!

Just got the bike today (4/27/09), took it for a nice long ride (2-3 miles), and the bike felt very stable, well balanced, very smooth, it seems to be fairly comfortable, it has excellent braking power (disc brakes), and a cool dark primer black color! The bike may be a "tad" on the heavier side for "avid" to "pro" cyclists, but for the casual cyclist this is a really nice bike, and I felt like I made a good purchase. I used to be an avid cyclist, and now trying to get back in shape again. I will use this bike for casual around-town riding, bike paths, and some street riding. For [$], you really can't go wrong!

Great bike for casual riders or longer distances. Gets a lot of compliments, great price point. The front forks could use suspension, it makes for a bumpy ride sometimes.
